Theodora Obana McKay, 79, passed away November 6, 2006 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was a native of Salinas, CA, born June 20, 1927.

Her father, Henry Obana, was one of the first lettuce farmers in the Salinas Valley. He first plowed his fields with horses, which helped lead to Theodora's love of animals, especially horses. She graduated from Salt Lake City High School and then attended Hartnell College in Salinas.

She was a dedicated employee of the Army-Air Force Exchange at Ft. Ord for 25 years. She was the personnel manager and became manager of the area from San Francisco to Paso Robles.

In 1975, she moved to the main exchange headquarters in Dallas, TX and retired from there in 1977. She was a member of the Monterey Yacht Club.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jack W. McKay, III, of Carmel Valley.

Private services have been held and inurnment will be at the El Carmelo Cemetery, Pacific Grove, under the direction of The Paul Mortuary.
