Abdon Independence Alexander was born on July 4, 1798 in North Carolina to Eleazer & Margaret Carter Alexander. He married Eliza Eugenia Campbell, daughter of John Campbell and Matilda Golden Polk, on 8 Jan 1819 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Eliza was the granddaugther of Ezekiel & Mary Wilson Polk. Abdon came to Maury County when he was ten years old. His father died two years later, leaving Abdon and his brothers and sisters in the care of their mother. He became a stock farmer on Carter's Creek and reared a family of eleven children. He died on 1 Oct 1868 in Maury County at the age of 70 years.
