Young M. Cantrall, 78, of 1630 E. Cornell Ave. died at 7 p.m. Friday in St. John's Hospital, having been in failing health for the past several months.

Born in Athens, the son of Thomas E. and Grace Whitney Cantrall, he taught school in Menard and Sangamon counties for many years. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Assn.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; two sons, Young of El Paso, Tex. and William of Downers Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Kuizin of Springfield and Mrs. Luella Cobb of Champaign; one step-son, Vincent Oberreiter of Springfield; one step-daughter, Mrs. Martha Lowe of Springfield; four brothers, Allen of Lincoln, Bion of Springfield, and Paul and Roland of Peoria; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Ellinger and Kunz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Services for Young M. Cantrall of 1630 E. Cornell Ave., a former teacher in Menard and Sangamon counties, will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Ellinger and Kunz Funeral Home. Rev. Donald J. Finley will officiate.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Cantrall, 78, died at 7 p.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital.
