Born Jan. 13, 1927, in Nodaway, Mo., he lived most of his life in St. Joseph.
On Nov. 2, 1979, he married Betty Bonar. She survives of the home. He was previously married to Jean George.
He attended Northwest Missouri State University and received his mater's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Mr. Brandt was a retired coach, teacher and administrator.
He was a Hillyard Vocational-Technical School administrator and taught at Horton, Kan.; and Central and Benton High Schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rezon Hickman and Neva (Burgess) Brandt; and his brother, Rezon Norman Brandt Jr.
Mr. Brandt was of the Christian faith. He held memberships with the Pony Express American Legion Post No. 359; Charity Lodge No. 331, A.F. & A.M.; 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine; High Twelve Club No. 49; and Retired Teacher's Association.
Additional Survivors: two sons, Robert G. Brandt Jr., and wife, Cathy of St. Joseph; and Charles H. Brandt of Austin, Minn.; daughter, Susan J. Brandt, Ph.D., of Kansas City, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Sharon Miller, and husband, Tom, of St. Joseph; and Billie Jean Mann, and husband, Steve, of Kansas City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family received friends on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory, St. Joseph, Mo.
