Funeral services for Furman N. Hinson, 77, will be held Thursday at Abney Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hinson died Monday, March 26, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late William N. and Lillie Mae Brasington Hinson. Mr. Hinson had retired from Heath Springs Telephone Company, was a member of Abney Baptist Church and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish.
Surviving are his wife, Grace G. Hinson; son, David Hinson (Darla); daughter, Debbie Johnson (Lee) both of Lancaster; stepsons, Mike Outen of Lancaster and Bennie Outen of Valley Head, Ala.; stepdaughter, Kay Catoe (Chris) of Kershaw; sister, Ruth Adams of Lancaster; eight grandchildren, Mandy Gamble, Brian Hinson, Keri Bailes, Tabetha Thompson, Jennifer Thompson, Kimberly Thompson, Gerald Gutgsell, Jaylen Outen, Alaric Outen; eight great-grandchildren, Autumn, Kennan, Emma, Lily, Leland, Gabriel, Haili and Anthony.
He was predeceased by brothers, Edward, Heyward and Odell Hinson; sisters, Fannie Outen, Elsie Whitley and Iva Mae Vincent; step-grandchild, Nikki Outen.
