Born 26 Jan 1911 in Groeditz, Germany, the son of Frederick and Hilda Balting, he was married 10 Jun 1939 in Indianapolis to Dorothy Simpson, who survives.
Also surviving are seven children, Mrs. Gerald (Phyllis) McCain, Mrs. Robert (Martha) Kehrt, Mrs. Jeff (Linda) Wright, Richard Balting, Jim Balting, Dave Balting, and Tom Balting, all of Shelbyville; three sisters, Mrs. Vincent (Margaret) Walka of California, Mrs. Erna Goble, Freeport, and Miss Helena Balting of Germany, and 15 grandchildren. A sister preceded in death.
Mr. Balting, who retired from the local KCL Corp. in 1973, also previously worked at the Altamil and Indiana Cash Drawer companies here. A resident of Shelby County since 1923, he belonged to the Eagles Lodge here.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Murphy Mortuary, with Rev. Glenn McGuire officiating. Burial was in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends called at the mortuary after 4 p.m., Thursday.
