Tom took the religious name Fr. "Herman."

A graduate of St. Fidelis Seminary, Herman, PA, he was proficient in many languages and was an excellent violin player.

He became a mission priest serving the Indians of the southwest and people of Mexico... Mexico when it was not safe to be a priest there.

A Traditionalist priest, Fr. Tom would say only the Tridentine Mass and was related to the famed Archbishop of Brazil, Antonio de Castro Mayer, a leader in fighting modernism in the church.
