Minnie, a seamstress by trade, was the daughter of Bartlett P. Adams, a butcher and Mexican War veteran, and Christina Adams, a seamstress.

Minnie was married at her death, age 28, at 712 N. 17th Street of "Gangrene of the Lungs," per Cemetery records. Her grave is in the plot of the Thomas Adams Estate, next to her father and her sister Sarah Adams Austin.

Her marker was uncovered through the efforts of the "Friends of Shockoe Hill Cemetery" in February 2015.
