Fort Plain, Nov. 1. – Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock from his late home in Ephratah, for Francis M. Baird, aged ?? 64 ?? Years, one of the well-known residents of the town of Ephratah. The services were conducted by Rev. Royal A. Stanton of Johnstown, a former pastor of the Reformed Church of Ephratah. Interment was made in the Ephratah Cemetery.
Mr. Baird died Thursday night at the home of his son, Albert Baird, in Ephratah for complication of diseases. For a long time the deceased had been a great sufferer. He had both of his legs amputated. The first taken off eight years ago and the other five years ago He was a cigar maker by trade and he followed this trade until a few years ago when he was compelled to retire, owing to the condition of his health. In politics he was a Democrat and had served as Town Clerk of the town of Ephratah and also as postmaster at Ephratah. For the past 20 years he had bee a resident of Ephratah.
He was born in Summit, Schoharie County. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. He is survived by two daughters, Agnes and Pauline of New Hartford; four sons, Albert, Ashley and Chauncey of Ephratah, and ?Morgan? Of Cobleskill; also one brother Dr. Frank Baird of Cobleskill and a sister, Mrs. Marshall Burnett, also of Cobleskill.
