Tribune Review, June 2, 2014:

Dorothy Grace Hepler Dudinsky passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Houston, Texas. Dorothy was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Ruffs Dale, to Herman and Grace Lynn Hepler.

Her former husband, John Dudinsky, her sister, Marjorie Schondelmayer, and her brothers, Cortlynn Hepler and Daryl Hepler, preceded her in death.

Surviving are four children, John Dudinsky of Washington, D.C., Lee Dudinsky of Houston, Texas, Lynn Dudinsky of University Park, Md., and Aleen Wilker of Wilmington, Del. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Christina Holland and Lynn Dudinsky of Houston, Texas, Katherine and Michael Dudinsky of University Park, Md., and Sarah Nowlin and Christopher Tennant of Wilmington, Del. Four great-grandchildren also survive, Brian Tennant, Justice Nowlin and Farren Tennant, all of Wilmington, Del., and Austin Holland of Houston, Texas.

Dorothy held many roles during her life. Some of these roles included daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, student, teacher, chef, chauffeur, volunteer, businesswoman, and friend. She embraced every role with dignity, grace, and commitment. Her life reflected the seminal beliefs of her Scotch-Irish heritage: faith in God and devotion to family. Dorothy believed hard work and education were qualities that empowered individuals with the means to fulfill life's potential. She established and managed many successful business enterprises including restaurants, car washes, laundries, a motel, a gas station, and various real estate ventures. Without benefit of a college degree, she undertook the tasks that enabled all of her children to become college graduates. After their graduations, she enrolled in Seton Hill College and in 1995, (age 66), fulfilled her dream of becoming a college graduate. Dorothy loved to learn and wanted her grandchildren to share her belief that education is deeply valued and continues throughout life. Dorothy was a member of Calvin United Presbyterian Church, Scottsdale.

A gravesite memorial service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at Davis Greenlawn Cemetery, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, TX 77471.
