Gary was raised in Enterprise, served a full-time mission in the Central States Mission, and graduated from Dixie State. He later attended Utah State University where he met his beautiful wife, Joyce Hatch. In 1966 he received his Masters of Education Degree from Montana State University. He loved teaching and developing strong church programs for seminary and institute students.
He was a hard worker, had a love of working his land, and spent several years in Enterprise growing crops and teaching seminary. His greatest joy was service to his church. He served throughout his lifetime in several bishoprics, stake mission leadership, and a variety of other callings. He and his wife served two missions, one in Vanuatu, Fiji and one in Warm Springs, Nevada.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Holt; children: Michael, Danny, Laurie, Maria, Lisa, Gary, William, and Amber; and 26 wonderful grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Deon, Lana Gale, Jack, and Jan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marilyn Jones.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington Hills LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 750 East Ft. Pierce Drive, St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd. and Saturday, prior to services, from 10:00 a.m.to 10:45 a.m. at the Chapel. Interment will Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Holt Family Cemetery, Enterprise, Utah.
