Eli Linton PERKINS was born 25 Sep 1888 in Pleasant Grove, Eastland County, Texas, USA. He was the son of Calvin Lee Perkins and Medline Meriah Williamson. He served in the Navy during WW1 and worked on transport ships in the Atlantic, two of them being sunk while he was aboard. He survived the war, the flu epidemic and whatever else and managed to get back to Texas where he owned land in Eastland Co. He had become a millionaire during the war due to the oil boom in Ranger. He married Hester Verona CORNELIUS on 17 Nov 1919 in Kingsville, Kleberg County, Texas, USA. She was the daughter of James Taylor CORNELIUS and Celia Ulmer MCCLESKEY. She was born 16 Jun 1893 in Green's Creek Community, Erath County, Texas, USA. They bought a home at 1902 Swenson, Abilene, and they began their lives together. They had two children and were very successful before the stock market crash. After that, he did what he did to support his family. He began delivering milk working for Borden I believe. Early one morning, his milk truck was hit by a drunk driver on Grape St. and he was killed the morning of 7 Jan 1933 in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas, USA. He was buried 9 Jan 1933 in Abilene in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Taylor County, Texas, USA. He was survived by his wife Hester, a daughter Verla Joyce and a young son, Lynn Perkins.
