He was surrounded and supported by the love of his nine children in the days and hours before his death. Lloyd was born to George and Edith Bolkcom. He is preceded in death by his former wife Nancy. Lloyd served in the Army and Air Force and then spent his professional career in television broadcasting, working as a television producer and director starting in the infancy of that industry. He began his career involved in the launch of WMIN, worked briefly at WCCO, and then at WTCN Channel 11 from 1956-1966. While at Channel 11 Lloyd directed many televised sports events, including the Minnesota Twins during their first years in Minnesota and various high school tournaments. He wrote, produced and directed public affairs programming, including openings from the Guthrie, Minneapolis Symphony, weekly church broadcasts, news documentaries and educational programming. His work also included shows such as Casey Jones and the early All-Star Wrestling shows. In 1967 Lloyd joined WQAD-TV in Moline, Illinois, and continued his commitment to community affairs broadcasting until his retirement. Lloyd was committed to social justice and equal opportunity, and this commitment was reflected in his broadcasting and numerous community activities. In retirement, Lloyd continued to use his skills in media relations as a consultant and volunteer, and was an enthusiastic world traveler, videographer, and grandfather. He was a grateful friend of Bill W. for 38 years.
