Pliny L Fox died in this city on Saturday noon, November 22, aged eighty-five years and six months. Deceased was born in the town of Tolland, Rutland county, Conn., on the 25th of May, 1799. In the morning of young manhood he was married to Miss Polly Fellows. In a few brief years he was left a widower, and in 1836 he was joined in wedlock with Miss Laura W Riddle, of Catteraugus county, State of New York. He was the father of nine children, of whom five live with his widow survive to mourn his loss. Deceased came west with his family and settled on a farm near Huntly Station in 1855. He removed to DeKalb Centre and established his residence in this town in 1856, and has lived in our midst from that time to the hour of his death. His life was long; his work is done. Like mellow fruit he has dropped from the tree of time. Like ripened grain he is gathered into the garner of eternity. We leave him to his maker, who seeth not as man seeth, for man looked on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. He was a true husband, a good father, a kind friend. Peace to his memory, and rest to his spirit. And so one by one Time's tolling bell sighs forth a requiem for the old pioneers of this county. May each and all find at last a fairer paradise than that which they leave behind them. The funeral, under the auspices of the Masonic Fraternity, of which order deceased was an honored member, took place from his late residence on Monday afternoon. A large number of friends and neighbors were present, and after a short address by Rev E W Drew, the body was interred in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery.
