Rev. Charles V. Hale, 86
The Rev. Charles V. Hale, 86, of West Portsmouth, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at SOMC Hospice.

He was born Oct. 5, 1923, in Lackey, Ky., to the late Camellias and Mary Hall Hale. He was retired from Laborers Local 83 in Portsmouth and was the current minister at Bible Missionary Church in Rosemount, and also was an evangelist. He was the owner operator of Hale's Dairyland for many years. Charles was also an Army veteran of WWII where he received four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.

Charles is survived by his wife, Juanita Price Hale, who he married on Nov. 13, 1945; a son, Randy V. (Jackie) Hale of Minford; two daughters, Rita K. (Mike) Riley of Georgetown and Kathy Mershon of West Portsmouth; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Smith of Glade Water, Texas; seven grandchildren, Brian Riley of Boston, Mass., Roseva Hammond of West Portsmouth, Stephanie Brickweg of North Carolina, Chris Hale of Dayton, Lori Howell of Stout, Sonya Hale of South Point and Michelle Scott of West Portsmouth; along with 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, at Nauvoo United Methodist Church in West Portsmouth, with Carl Rose officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park, with graveside military rites by James Dickey Post 23 American Legion. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
