Merton Merle White, 83, of Humboldt, Kansas, died Wednesday, February 4, 2015, at the Allen County Regional Hospital.

Merton was born August 7, 1931, in Wichita, the son of John and Mabel (Spear) White. He grew up in Wichita. Merton served in the U.S. Air Force.

On May 1, 1953, Merton married Margaret J. Smiley in Wichita. They made their home in Wichita most of their married lives. They have resided in Humboldt for 23 years. He worked as an appliance repairman at Western Auto in Garnett and had his own repair service.

His memberships include the First Baptist Church in Humboldt, American Legion in Topeka and Disabled American Veterans.

His wife of 62 years: Margaret White of the home

3 Children: Mark White & wife, Janell of Wichita, Merle White & wife, Carolyn of Wichita and Mary Deal & husband, Steve of Humboldt

1 Sister: Naomi Jacobson of Wichita

5 Grandchildren & 11 Great Grandchildren

Numerous Nieces and Nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, an infant granddaughter and 4 siblings.
