He was a member of Aetna Grove Baptist Church, a retired farmer, a welder and mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Akin Whitlow; one daughter, Betty Moss, of Summersville; two sisters, Mrs. Dolly Vance, of Magnolia, and Mrs. Lola Clark, of Summersville; two grandsons, and one great-granddaughter.
A son, Rodney, preceded his father in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday 25 October 1985 in the chapel of Dixon and Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Brother Ronald Shaver and Brother Roy Miller officiating.
Burial was in Aetna Grove Cemetery.
Dixon and Rogers Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
