Nila Sue Hagemeyer, 59, of Jefferson City, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015.
She was born on July 15, 1955 in California, MO, the daughter of Norman Vernon and Nelda Irene (Lister) Aegerter. Nila’s name came from her mother’s initials.
She grew up in Jamestown, MO and was a 1973 graduate of Jamestown C-1 High School. Nila later graduated summa cum laude from Columbia College, Columbia, MO.
On March 3, 1974, Nila married James Keith Hagemeyer at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in California, MO. James survives at their home in Jefferson City.
Nila worked in private industry for 2 years before joining the State of Missouri workforce where her career spanned 37 years. She especially enjoyed 33 years at the Missouri Public Service Commission where she worked in various positions including legal secretary, designated principal assistant for Commissioners and Chairman, data center manager, and utility management analyst. She reluctantly retired on September 1, 2012 due to health issues.
Nila was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jefferson City, where she served on the altar guild and as a greeter.
Nila is survived by her husband James and two sons, Jeremy Keith Hagemeyer and his wife Sandra Lynn Coburn of Washington, D.C. and Joshua Kyle Hagemeyer and his wife Kelley Lucille Hagemeyer of Jefferson city; three grandchildren, Kyle James Hagemeyer, and twins Lucille (Lucy) Jo Hagemeyer, and Henry James Hagemeyer. Other survivors include her brother, Robert Eugene Aegerter and his wife Vickie of Jefferson City; her mother-in-law, Milda Hagemeyer of California, MO; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Karen Hagemeyer of California, MO; two nephews, Scott Aegerter and his fiancée Lisa Lawler, and Shaun Aegerter of Jefferson City, MO; four nieces, Christina Gish and her husband Larry, Milisa Hagemeyer, and Sara Hagemeyer and her fiancée Charles Turner, all of California, MO, and Angela Christian and her husband Dwight of Holts Summit. Nila is also survived by her 5 cats, Sydney, Sasha, Sebastian, Simon and Tanzy.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Aegerter on March 8, 1983; her mother, Nelda Aegerter-Herman, on October 26, 2014; her stepfather, James Herman, on December 23, 2014; and her father-in-law, Oscar Hagemeyer, on April 10, 2003.
The family will received friends on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, 2207 Industrial Drive, Jefferson City, MO, with Rev. Tony Alter officiating.
Interment will follow at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in California, MO.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Faith Lutheran Altar Guild or the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.
