He was born in Preble County, Ohio; the son of Frank E. and Flossie J. (Harrison) Parks. He graduated in 1928 from Monroe High School, Monroe Twp, Preble County, Ohio. He was to married Goldie Jane (Kimmel) Parks, whom he shares a headstone.

Garland H. Parks, 82, of 204 Debbie Drive, Eaton, died Sunday, Nov. 15, at Grace Brethren Village in Englewood after an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 9, 1910, in Preble County, the son of Frank and Flossie (Harrison) Parks and had lived in Preble County all his life. He was a retired farmer and retired Preble County Superintendent of the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a former Monroe Township clerk and a member of the West Manchester United Church of Christ.
His wife, Goldie Jane (Kimmel) Parks died July 11, 1988. He was also preceded in death by a son, Keith Parks, and a sister Martha Downing.
Survivors include one daughter, Janet E. Lucas of Clayton; one son, Daryell L. Parks of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Girton-Schmidt-Boucher Funeral Home, Eaton, with the Rev. Daniel A. Ireton and Rev. Charles E. Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery, West Manchester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the West Manchester United Church of Christ.
