Hazel Peterson, 95, of Plano died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center in Centerville.
She was born June 22, 1907, in Dean, the daughter of Jesse and Pearlie (Myers) Adams. She graduated from Moulton High School and attended Cedar Falls Teachers College.
Hazel was united in marriage to Orth Peterson on June 22, 1929, in Kohoka, MO. She taught school in the Moulton rural area. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Centerville, the United Methodist Womens Club, Jones Helphers Club in Plano and Dorcas Circle in Centerville.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orth E. Peterson on Seppt. 6, 1982; a half-sister, Marion Adams; and four brothers, Ferris, Lowell, Marmion and Chancel Adams.
Surviving family members are two sons, Max Peterson and his wife Sandra, of Des Moines and Rex Peterson and his wife Betty, of Plano; three daughters, Ruth Deloris Jones and her husband Ray, of Grimes, Norma Wells and her husband Roger, of Plano and Marilyn Gorden and her husband Richard.
of Plano; four half-brothers, Quincy Adams of Waverly, GA, Elton Adams of Slater, Raymond Adams of Monticello and Keith Adams of Smithville, KY. 16 grandchildren; 21 gr-grandchildren and one gr-gr-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, at 10 a.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Moulton.
