AGE: 92 • Mount Laurel

Rocco M. Longo, 92, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015 after living a long and blessed life.

Rocco was born August 4, 1922 in Homesdale, PA and grew up in Jersey City, NJ. In 1938, he dropped out of high school to support his family by delivering ice and coal. In 1942, he enlisted in the US Army Signal Corps, obtained his GED, and honorably served his country during WWII. During the repatriation of Belgium from the Nazi occupation, he met and married the love of his life Rose Bal in 1945. Upon his discharge, he began his employment as an electronic equipment quality control specialist.

During his career, he was attached to the American Embassy in London, England. In his final years of government service, he took part in Operation Desert Sand in preparation for the war in Iraq. He spent his retirement helping his family and caring for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife Rose of 65 years, Rocco is survived by his son John (wife Kitty); daughter Linda Molnar (husband Jim); brother Armand Longo (wife Dolores); grandchildren Stephanie Waszazak (husband Robert), Matthew Molnar (wife Lauren), Alexa Bird, Lisa and Christopher Longo, Chriselle and T.J. Bramante; great grandchildren Christian, Samantha, and Joshua Waszazak, Damien, Rocco, and Leonardo Bird, and Landon and Kathryn Molnar.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 18th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and on Thursday, February 19th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM both at the Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Road, Mount Laurel. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated 11:30 AM on Thursday at Saint John Neumann RC Church, 560 Walton Avenue, Mount Laurel. Entombment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Burlington Township, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rocco may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
