Obituary for Goldie Lacey Courtney

Goldie Lacey is one of four children born to Charles Ezra Lacey and Laura Hanna Lacey. In 1916 she married Raymond Walter Winters for the first time. They divorced in 1917 and then remarried in 1918. They had two children together during their second marriage. There was two boys, a Clifford Monroe Winters and a Charles Walter Winters. They then divorced for the last time in 1923. In the 1925 census,it shows that Goldie Lacey Winters was married to Henry Clauson and they were living in Ottumwa,Iowa. Around 1930 in the 1930 census, she was married to George Washington Courtney and was listed as a stepmother to his two sons, Charles Courtney and Virgil Courtney. After George W Courtney's death, she went to live with her biological son Charles Walter Winters in Floris, Davis county, Iowa. In 1963 she passed away at the Rest Haven Nursing home in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was buried next to her husband George W Courtney.


She is survived by two sons and two stepsons; Clifford Monroe Winters Sr and Charles Walter Winters,Charles Courtney of Newton and Virgil Courtney of Hiteman. She was preceded in death by her husband George W. Courtney.

The services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanton Jackson of the Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with the Veterans of Foreign Wars serving as pall bearers.
