Margaret Pearl "Maggie" LaChapelle was born on 27 Apr 1856 in Mankato, Minnesota to Antoine LaChapelle and Julia Lecuyer of Wisconsin. She lived in Courtland, Minnesota in 1860 with her parents and siblings Theresa and Henry. They had moved to Erin by 1865 and are found on the Rice County census with the additions of Matilda and Mary to the family. They moved shortly after to Mankato, where the family remained. By 1875 the household consisted of Antoine, Julia, Teresa, Margaret, Henry, Matilda, Andrew, Soloman, Felicity, Pauline, and David. Louis and Frederick were born to the household within the next few years.
Maggie started her own family shortly after, joining in marriage to William Joseph Alexander 16 Nov 1882 in Tivoli, Minnesota. Her family is listed on the 1896 Indian Rolls as belonging to the tribe Medawakanton Sioux. Maggie and Joseph had twelve children of their own: Teresa, Elizabeth, Matilda, Julia, Benjamin, Charles, Hazel, Rose, Mary, Pearl, and Henry.
Joseph died 15 Nov 1930 in Mankato, with Maggie joining him 19 Aug 1933.
