Elsie Jeanette Gaydon Redfern, 77, of Greensboro died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Wesley Long Hospital.

Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, at Hanes-Lineberry, Vanstory Chapel. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

A native of Stokes County, Mrs. Redfern was a member of Faith Wesleyan Church. After retiring from Burlington Mills, she received her Assistant Nursing Certificate and worked as a private duty nurse. Since 1990, she was a volunteer with the foster grandparents program at Hunter Elementary School, for the 5th grade class.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Melvin and Ernest, Donna Gaydon and John, and Delores Gaydon Harrelson, all of Greensboro; sister, Susie Ella Branch of Greensboro; brother, Sherman Lee Shelton of Ararat; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at the funeral home and other times at the residence of her daughter, Barbara Melvin
