Date February 1 1870, County Saint John, Place Saint John, Newspaper The Daily Telegraph
On Friday morn. last, Thomas PECK, Jr. of Chester (Albert Co.) went to the woods for fire wood with his horse and in falling a tree it came in contact with an old stub which it appears was not of sufficient force to lodge the tree, but the stub sprung back in the direction where Mr. P. stood and fell upon him, but strange to say he walked home leading his horse, related in a few words the cause of the accident and spoke no more and died in about two hours. The back of his skull was found to be broken in and his breast much bruised. He leaves a wife.
