Funeral services for Dr. Jim F. Adams, 53, of Auburn is Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial is in Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Libba Stinson is officiating. Visitation is Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Dr. Adams, who died Monday, May 8, 2006, at his home, was born January 12, 1953, in Beruit, Lebanon. He moved to Auburn at age 2 1/2 and grew up in Auburn, graduated from Auburn High School, received his B.S. and M.S. from Auburn University, and Ph.D. from Kansas State University.
He spent 3 years in the U.S. Air Force, and joined the faculty at Auburn University School of Agriculture, Agronomy and Soil Department in 1985. He taught introductory and graduate courses in Soil Science and Soil Chemistry.
Dr. Adams was an avid boatsman and led numerous expeditions down the Chattahoochee River to the Florida coast.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Ann Adams of Auburn; parents, Dr. and Mrs. Fred Adams of Auburn; sister, Marilyn Blanton (Bill) of Auburn; nieces, Pat DiMatteo (Tom) of Ft. Mill, SC, Karen Metcalf (Dave) of Snellville, GA and a nephew, David Stanfield (Amy) of Lanett, AL. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Kathleen Adams.
