SILER CITY - Nancy Hicks Brown, 68, of Siler City, went to be in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel, with Pastor Bobby Shutt and Pastor Harold Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born September 2, 1939, in Stokesdale, to the late Sandy and Annie Hicks, Mrs. Brown was a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was employed with Wal-Mart up until her illness left her unable to work. She loved to shop, decorate, and help others. She loved life and the people in it. Nancy always went out of her way to help those in need and did so with an open heart, never expecting anything in return. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Henry, Donnie, and Robert Hicks; and two sisters, Stacy Bullins and Thelma Kellam.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 29 years, Thomas "Bud" Brown; daughter, Rhonda Osborne of Winston-Salem; son, Jerry Brown and his wife, Laura, of Siler City; four grandchildren, Shannon Osborne Plummer and husband, Jimmy, Cody Brown, Candice LaRue, and Courtney Brown; three great-grandchildren, Zoe, Zackary, and Alexis; sisters, Ellen Carter, Alice Morris and husband, Ralph, Bessie Childers and husband, Kenneth, and Faye May; brothers, S. M. Hicks and wife, Betty, and Edward "Bailey" Hicks and wife, Bettie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
