STAYTON - Mike was born on May 30, 1926 in Charleston, Arkansas to Nick & Annie Adams. The family moved to Canute, Oklahoma in 1929 where Mike grew up during the Depression and Dust Bowl Years. The sixth in a family of twelve, Mike graduated from Holy Family High School in May of 1944 and went directly into the Navy, where he served on LST 244 in the South Pacific during WWII. After his discharge and a few months back on the Oklahoma farm, Mike moved to Stayton, Oregon in March of 1947 where he found work in construction. He met Betty Rice in 1948 and they were married on June 3rd, 1950. Never afraid of hard work and willing to take a risk, he started Mike Adams Construction Company in 1954, building numerous structures throughout the Santiam Canyon area.

Mike was a man of strong faith and love of family. He enjoyed traveling, camping, snowmobiling, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends. In the last few years, Mike found pleasure in designing and building wood model trucks. Beyond work and play, Mike was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Parish where he was a member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony Council. Mike didn't know a stranger. He found great joy in handing out little toys to a child, or giving a hand to someone who needed help.

Mike passed away at home in Stayton on July 12th. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty; children: Jane (Ted) Lulay of Stayton, Kenneth (Janna) Adams of Stayton and Elaine (Carl Jr.) Blish of Aumsville; 16 Grandchildren: Matthew, Michael (Marcie), Sarah, Anna, Katelyn, Jacob, Ethan, Emily, Holly, Justin, Benjamin, Joshua, Caleb, Melissa, Natalie and Ella. Brothers: Clarence Adams of Stayton and Leo Adams of Elk City, OK; and sister: Teresa Word of Elk City, OK.
