George M Sommerfield, 74, Massena, died in the Saranac Lake General Hospital Mar. 18, 1969.
Funeral services will be Friday, at the Phillips Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery area 2, in the spring.
Mr. Sommerfield is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Sommerfield, Victoria, B.C.; two sons, William, Massena and Robert, Sechelt, B.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Don(Ruth)Shestopalski and Mrs. Jack(Leona)Jacques, both of Victoria, B.C.. A son, Allen predeceased his in 1967 in Victoria, B.C.. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. William(Clara)Walker, Essexville of Mich.; Mrs. Erin(Florence)Uknan, Tawas City, Mich; Mrs. Reed(Grace) Smith, of Florida; and Mrs. Harold(Myrna)Timerick, Gladwin, Mich..
A native of Tawas, Mich., Mr. Sommerfield was born on Mar. 1, 1895, the son of Michael and Anna Smith Sommerfield in Munger, Mich. He attended schools there and served in WWI with the 112th Combat Engineers.
Three grandsons, son of William Sommerfield, Tucker Terrance, are presently serving in the armed forces. George Sommerfield is in Thailand; Twin William is in Vietnam, and Robert is presently home on embarkation leave for assignment in Vietnam. Two of the boys wear the coveted "Green Beret".
