Vernon C. Dumas, 85, Alice Hyde Nursing Home, Malone, formerly of Burke, died Thursday afternoon in Alice Hyde Memorial Hospital, Malone.
Mr. Dumas was a salesman with Sears, Roebuck and Co. until his retirement in 1970, after 25 years.
Born Sept. 23, 1914, in Chateaugay, son of Charles and Nettie LaPlant Dumas, he married Clara F. Eldridge on Sept. 28, 1942, at St. George's Church.
He was a communicant of St. George's Church and a member and past treasurer of the Burke Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving beside his wife are a son, James, Burke; a daughter, Mrs. Steve (Carmen) Grondziak, Tracy, Calif.; a brother, Marvin, Baldwinsville; four sisters, Juanita Derouchie, Burke, Evelyn Brown, Malone, Winona Hartman, Syracuse, and Fae Witherill, Vero Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Leonard, and two sisters, Loretta Basiliere and Avis Reome LaDuc, died before him.
A private funeral will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Ridgeway Cemetery.
