MURPHY, Loyd, age 81, of Manchester, Tennessee passed away on Monday, May 22, 2006 at the United Regional Medical Center in Manchester. He was born October 1, 1924 to his parents, the late Sam Porter Murphy and Daisy Hutchison Murphy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Louise Myers Henley Murphy and several sisters and brothers.

Mr. Murphy was a decorated United States Army WWII Veteran, who received the Purple Heart Medal after being wounded while serving in France. He retired from the Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) in 1980 where he was a security guard. After retirement, woodworking became his hobby and was a member of the Tennessee Valley Woodworkers.

Mr. Murphy is survived by a step-daughter, Jo Ann Bookout of Smyrna, Georgia; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and siblings; and a host of friends, neighbors and loved ones.

The Family received friends at the Visitation on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 from 5-8:00 P.M.The Funeral Service was conducted on Wednesday morning, May 24, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Central Funeral Home with Dr. Sheila Bookout officiating. Interment followed at the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors. Memorial Donations may be made to the American Heart Associaton, the Manchester First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity. CENTRAL FUNERAL HOME WAS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.
