Miss Mary Vroom, age 94, died Sunday [Jan. 3, 1960] in the Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Neshanic, N.J. Her sister, Miss Sara Vroom, age 88, died Friday in the same place. The sisters were both residents of Somerville.
Miss Vroom was a graduate of the New York Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a private nurse. In 1917, she was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant and served in the Army Nurse Corps. She served 18 months in France at a base hospital. During World War II, Miss Vroom worked with the Red Cross.
The sisters were buried in New Cemetery, Somerville. They were survived by five nephews and a niece.
