Helen DeLapp died August 16, 2003 in Raymore Healthcare Center, Raymore, Missouri. Born September 4, 1916 and raised in West Plains, Missouri, Helen became a longtime resident of Springfield after her marriage to Joe DeLapp, who preceded her in death in 2000. Helen was the seventh child of ten children, six girls and four boys, born to Matt and Ophelia Hard of West Plains. Only her sister, Edna Lois, remains of the ten children. Through her years in Springfield she was a lifelong member of Central Christian Church where she participated in all aspects of church life. In addition to her church involvement she spent many years working on various committees of the Boys Club of Springfield. Helen is survived by two sons, Charles Joseph DeLapp, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, Raymore, Missouri, and Mike DeLapp and his wife, Renee, Barrington, Illinois; and her remaining sister, Edna Lois Hogan, Raleigh, North Carolina. She is further survived by seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and over twenty nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2003 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverends Sarah Stephenson and Carl Radford officiating. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
