A native of Shaw, Mississippi, Mrs. Whitaker had lived in Fayetteville for about 25 years. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Elizabeth Pitts and the wife of the late Charles Whitaker. She was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John E. Brown officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant View Cemetery. Howard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include eight daughters, Gloria Shelton of Bolivar, Mississippi, Arnesta Manning, Martha Manning, and Evelyn Humphrey, all of Fayetteville, Sharon Whitaker of Nashville, Teresa manning of Huntsville, and Queen Brown and Dora Clay, both of Chicago, Illinois; two brothers, Truly Pitts and Cornelius Dean, both of Chicago; six stepchildren, and 11 grandchildren.
