From George F. Daniels' 1892 "History of the Town of Oxford, Massachusetts":
Dr. Alexander Campbell "lived on Sutton road near the mill brook, H.195, where his new house was burned, 1st of November, 1771, afterward lived at H.205, now Israel Sibley's heirs, and died there 28th of December, 1782.
Later his widow resided with her daughter Mrs. Dr. Learned, at North Oxford,Massachusetts is also where she died 19th March, 1816. He was a man of good ability, stood well as a citizen, and was somewhat in public life. In 1776, when the question of forming a State Constitution was before the town, he was chosen chairman of committee to report on the subject. He was for many years the leading physician of the centre of the town, did a thriving business, and had numerous pupils studying under him. In person he was short, thick set, dark complexioned and socially free and attractive."
