Mrs. Edith Ely Meighen, wife of John L. Meighen, died at their home on Ross street, Friday evening, November 10, aged 31 years, following a short illness from Bright's disease. Her death came as a shock to her many friends. Mrs. Meighen was a daughter of William Ely, deceased, and Mrs. Ida Hook Ely, of Whiteley township. She was a graduate of the Waynesburg College School of Music and possessed a fine soprano voice. She was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church, was an active worker in the church, and a member of the choir. Mrs. Meighen was one of the most highly esteemed young women in the community. Beside her husband, who is assistant cashier of the Peoples National bank, she is survived by one daughter, Ida Martha, aged two years, and one sister, Mrs. Norman Orndoff, of Whiteley township.
