Obituary for Ms. Adriann M. Smith
Adrianne M. Smith was born id Miami, Florida on March 20, 1920 to her parents, who proceeded her in death . She spent a number of years serving in the United States Army. After leaving the Army she married for a short time to Andy Smith. There were no children from this union. She workred as a domestic worker for the Grant and Mark families for over 30 years, providing help to the children of both families.
After she retired, she started working for Bethesda COGIC where Mother Bates ran the church pantry which served those who were homeless and hungry. This she enjoyed immensely until she could no longer serve due to health issues.
She rededicated her life to the Lord as a member of Isom Memoiral CME Church, where Dr. Brenda L. Kearney was the Pastor at that time, until she was unable to attend. She lived in her own home until her health would not allow her to live alone. From there she stayed in a number of Assisted Living Facilities until she passed on September 14, 2012.
She had sisters who also proceeded her in death. Even though she had no children, she leaves behind a host of friends and acquaintances who knew and loved her.
Adrianne or Mother Adrianne as she was known by many , will be sorely missed. She had a sense of humor, but she did not have a problem speaking her mind. She enjoyed listening to the Blues and dancing. For those who knew her, she was not someone you you would forget easily, especially those who she worked with at Mother Bates pantry.
Mother Adrianne was 92 years old when she passed and those who knew her will not forget her smile nor her character
