'Aunt Jeff' sometimes worked as a dressmaker and in the early 1900s went homesteading in the Badlands of South Dakota with her brother 'Deak,' sister Mary and her husband Herbert Edwards. They all later returned to Des Moines. Jeff never married and lived at home the rest of her life. Special thanks to Holly Johnson Marquez for sharing family photos, and to Clarence Cassler of Des Moines for the gravestone photos.
