Mr. Bergwitz had worked at Sterling Brewery for 27 years and retired from Industrial Contractors after 15 years. John was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County and enjoyed fishing, working spot shoots and watching the birds. He served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Reconnaissance Battalion. John truly enjoyed going to St. Joe Tavern to drink a beer with his friends.
Surviving John are his wife of 53 years, Brenda (Hatfield) Bergwitz; a daughter, Tina Bergwitz of Evansville; three sons, John Bergwitz of Evansville, Nick Bergwitz of Chula Vista, CA and Greg Bergwitz of Evansville; a brother, Ed (Rita) Bergwitz of Evansville; a grandson and John’s “bestest buddy”, Jeremy Bergwitz; six granddaughters, Alicia, Britney (Ryan), Kristen, Brooke, Summer and Kaylyn Bergwitz and a great grandson, Isaiah Aguon.Read More
