Olga Elsie Blankenship, 97, of Ripplemead, departed this life Monday morning, February 16, 2015 at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg. Born in Willowton, WV on July 7, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Benjamine Harrison and China Rose Davis Holdren. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church at Ripplemead and enjoyed the SALT activities of the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Vernon Sylvester Blankenship, her brothers Noel, Arvin, Eugene, Edwin and Allie Holdren, and her sisters Lanie Hilton, Clara Songer, Joyce Dowdy, Jamie Holdren and Verna Holdren.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Becky Blankenship of Pearisburg; her daughters Alma Whitaker of Pearisburg, Mildred French of Christiansburg, and Linda Stephens of Pearisburg; her brother Emmitt Holdren of Pembroke; her sister Ella Furrow of Blacksburg; her grandchildren Reggie, Crystal, Chonita and Chuck, Andrew, Vanessa and Chuck, Joey, Jimmy and Amy, Melissa and Matt, Hannah; her great-grandchildren Carson, Colton, and Leelyn; and her many relatives, friends and good Ripplemead neighbors.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 pm in Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Entombment will follow in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 8 pm at the church. The family would like to thank Pastor Shahn Wilburn and Pastor Terry Easter for their kind and loving care of Miss Elsie.
