Mrs. Susan A. Baird has died Monday morning, April 22, 2002 at her home. Age 80 years. She was born on April 21, 1922 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Elmer J. and Margaret (Farrell) Way. Sue attended schools in Saginaw, graduating from St. Andrews High School with the Class of 1940. She helped with the development of Catholic charities and worked at the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center in Saginaw, working as the secretary to the Chief of Surgeons. On April 8, 1953 in Saginaw, she married David C. Baird. He predeceased her on December 22, 1995. Sue served on the school board for Regina High School, member of the Catholic Family Services of Midland, Zoe Club and a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Mrs. Baird had a sense of humor and enjoyed people. Surviving are one daughter, Mary P. Baird of Jackson; one son and his wife Thomas and Kathryn Baird of Traverse City; two sisters, Mary F. Way of Saginaw and Martha (Walter) Keating of Westlake, OH; one sister-in-law, Ellie Way of Saginaw and numerous nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Justin F. Way and C. Thomas Way and one sister, Esther Way predeceased her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2002 from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Father Jack Johnson will officiate with burial in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery in Saginaw. Sue's family will receive friends a the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider MidMichigan Hospice, Catholic Family Services of Midland, or donor's favorite charity. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Directors, Midland.
