Viola M. Dailey, 98, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at Sunset Nursing Home in Canton.

Born April 16, 1908, in Peoria County to Oscar and Ella Newman Carlson, she married George Dailey on June 9, 1928.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Edna Tindall.

Surviving are one son, Michael (Jane) Dailey; one daughter, Vicki (Charles) Rilea; three grandsons, Dan (Cathy) Beaird, Trent (MaryPat) Kern, and Seth-Michael Dailey; four granddaughters, Tamra (Gary) Turner, Kelly (Travis) Fix, and Ginger (Bob) Lyon, and Seana (Dane) O'Donnell; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She attended Manual High School and graduated from Brown's Business College, and taught at Brown's Business College several years. She was also a public stenographer for the Pere Marquette and for Pekin Insurance. She and her husband were in the restaurant business for 37 years, last owning Dailey's Grill in Peoria Heights.

Cremation rites have been accorded.
