Helen L. Brown, 100, formerly of Georgetown-Verona Road, Lewisburg, died Saturday morning, April 27, at Heartland of Eaton, where she had resided for several years.

Born in Eldorado, she was the daughter of Frank and Kate (Swartzel) Blackford. She was a lifetime member of Eldorado Unitarian-Universalist Church, where she served as treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Association of Unitarian-Universalist Women, the Flower Club, Altrurian Club and a longtime Grange member.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Dorcas Brown, in 1977; sisters, Grace Helton and Martha Laird; and a brother, John D. Blackford.

Survivors include her sons, Richard and wife Twila of Eldorado, Michael and wife Sally of Tucson, Ariz., six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the near future. Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado, is in charge of arrangements.

A public memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Unitarian-Universalist Church, with Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker and the Rev. Raymond A. Michael officiating. Bussard-Vaniman Funeral Home Eldorado, is in charge of the arrangements.
