Robert was born in Ririe, Idaho on Feb. 22, 1919, the second of six children. He grew up on a farm and worked hard from the time he was a boy. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy January 1941 and served as an aviation mechanic. His ship departed Pearl Harbor six days before the December 7, 1941 attack.
After six years in the Navy he returned home to Ririe where he married Kathy on May 17, 1947. In 1955, with four children, they moved to newly opened farm ground at Warden, Washington. Robert served on the Warden School Board for several years and was twice appointed chairman. He and Kathy were avid golfers. Robert had many friends through the years. He was a gentle man known for his honesty, caring and consideration of others. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy, who died in 2001, son Robert L. Miller, who died in 1977; two grandchildren; his parents and four siblings.
He leaves his son, Richard Miller of Kennewick; twin daughters, Claudia (Stan) Clifton of Battle Ground, Washington and Claudette Gard of Seattle. He also is survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Warden Cemetery on May 17, 2007, the date of Robert and Kathy's 60th wedding anniversary.
