Eleanor was born on January 9, 1922 in rural Halstead KS, the daughter of Rudolph and Ethel A. (Warren) Berger. She graduated from Halstead High School, and then attended the Kansas State University with a Master’s degree. Eleanor was a teacher for 43 years, with 35 years at Leavenworth High School. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia (Ginny) Haines of Marietta GA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Howard Berger.
Eleanor was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi, Leavenworth Area Retired School Personnel Association (LARSPA), and the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS).
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm, with family present from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be at held on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 9:30 am at Belden Larkin Funeral Home, 707 S 6th St., with Dr. Robyn Abel, officiating. Burial will take place at Halstead Cemetery, Halstead KS.
Memorials in her name are directed to the American Cancer Society or First Presbyterian Church.
