Mrs. Eula Mae Black, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at her home.

She was born on November 6, 1918 in Alabama, but has been a resident of North Georgia for nearly 75 years. Mrs. Black was a member of Peavine Baptist Church where she was recognized in 2010 for more than 66 years of “Faithfully Teaching God’s Word, Outstanding Service, and Commitment to Excellence.” Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Black was a bookkeeper for Newton Chevrolet, Tucker Chevrolet, and North Georgia Mental Health Association. Mrs. Black is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Colquitt C. Black, Jr.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Colquitt (Linda) Black III, of Summerville, GA, Catherine (Sammy) Robertson, Ringgold, Elizabeth (Ricky) Smith, Makanda, IL, and Dr. Stanley (Janice) Black, Ringgold; grandchildren, Becky Robertson, Roger Robertson, Candi Irvin, Jennifer Richardson, John Black, Laura Cochran, and Nathan Smith; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and special niece Patricia Ward, Chickamauga.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. Monday, February 23, 2015, at Peavine Baptist Church with Dr. Stephen Anthony officiating. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Roger Robertson, John Black, Nathan Smith, Steven Bunker, Samuel Bunker and Andrew Irvin. Honorary pallbearers will be ladies from the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Peavine Baptist Church.

The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Hospice of Chattanooga for all their hard work, dedication, assistance, and superb caregiving to Mrs. Black.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Peavine Baptist Church, 1089 Peavine Road, Rock Spring, GA 30739 or to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Heritage Funeral Home on Battlefield Parkway in Fort Oglethorpe.
