Nicholas Anstett, 126 Lehigh Street, died in Valley Crest yesterday morning at 10:45. He was stricken ill January 15 and was a patient in Nesbitt Memorial Hospital until Friday when he was transferred to Valley Crest. He was 87.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, he was educated in the city schools. He was a salesman and driver for Palace Laundry for 30 years, retiring 15 years ago. Mr. Anstett was a member of St. Nicholas Church and the Holy Name Society. His wife, the former Sophie Hochreiter, died in 1942.
Surviving are a son, John, detective with Wilkes-Barre Police Department; one grandson, at home; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Carrie Millen, Mrs. Elizabeth Bellas, both of Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Anna Wormath, Mrs. Catherine Oberst, both of Delaware; Leo Anstett, Wilkes-Barre; Mrs. Martha Pahler.
Funeral will be held from McLaughlin Funeral Home, 142 South Washington Street, Monday morning at 9, with a Requiem Mass at 9:30 in St. Nicholas Church. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown.
