Don Elbert Bale, of Burkburnett, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 in Wichita Falls.
Interment with military honors at Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
Don was born on January 18, 1938 in Terrell, Texas to John Elbert and Lavona Bale. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Terrell. Don was an outstanding football player on the Terrell Tiger team from 1952 to 1956. He was inducted into the Tiger Hall of Fame on October 2, 2009. Following high school graduation, Don became an officer through the Air Force ROTC program at the University of North Texas in Denton, and served as an aircraft maintenance officer for over 23 years. Don married Margit Reedholm on September 27, 1970 in Nevada, Iowa. They enjoyed the military life until his retirement as a Lt. Colonel in 1984 and settled in Burkburnett. Don served as the Burkburnett Municipal Judge from 1984 until 1994. From 94 to 96, he was employed as a case worker for the Helen Farabee Center after receiving his master’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Colorado.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margit Bale of Burkburnett; his children, Tracy Flowers of Byers, Angela Robertson and husband John of Burkburnett, Cory Thompson and husband Brent of Randlett, Oklahoma, and John Bale and wife Theresa of Burkburnett; nine grandchildren, Chase Robertson and wife Katrina of Keller, Justin Robertson and fiancé Kristi Pickett of Houston, Kaitlyn Robertson of Keller, Braden Flowers of Byers, Skylar Thompson of Randlett, Oklahoma, and Landon, Jaxx, Jayden and Jacob Bale all of Burkburnett; his great-granddaughter, Kinsley Robertson of Keller; and several nieces and nephews.
