Freda Juanita Tacquard

HUTCHINS – Mrs. Frederica Juanita Tacquard, known affectionately as Freda, passed from this life Sunday afternoon, February 15, 2015, in Dallas.

Born July 6, 1924 in DeKalb, Texas, Freda had been a resident of Hutchins since 2004, previously living in Santa Fe for over 50 years. During WWII, Freda supported the war effort by working in the Red River Arsenal Purchasing Department. She married Leroy Tacquard, Jr. on Dec 1, 1945 and they moved to the Santa Fe area where she managed the Tacquard Bookkeeping business and raised her three daughters. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock where she served as the Sacristan for many years as well as being a member of the Altar Society. She joined St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Lancaster after her move to Hutchins and attended until she was no longer able. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching and spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by her husband of over 69 years, LeRoy Tacquard, Jr.; her brother, William Edward Napp; sisters, Erma Ernestine Napp and Margaret Nancy Worthington; her survivors include her daughters, Stephanie Reiter and husband, Larry, Marjorie Busscher and husband, Warren, Nita Leschinger and husband, Harry; grandchildren, Laura Reiter Brown and husband, David, Anthony Reiter and wife, Emily, Dale Jackson, Kathryn Reiter, Christopher Busscher and wife, Cara, Timothy Busscher; great-grandchildren, Thomas Brown, Hailey Jackson, Michael Reiter, Preston Busscher, Jane Reiter, George Reiter, Morgan Busscher and Magdalene Reiter.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Deacon Alvin Lovelady, followed by a Rosary recited by Mr. Don LeCompte.

Those who wish may make memorials in the form of donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, 10114 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX 77563 or to any chapter of the SPCA.
