A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Whitaker was the son of the late Coleman R. and Mable Scott Whitaker. He was PFC in the U. S. Army during WW II, was employed by the Coca Cola Company for 19 years and was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son Jerry Whitaker of Fayetteville, daughter Nancy Whitaker Hobbs (Dwight) of Fayetteville, grandchildren Dustin, Casey and Josh Hobbs all of Fayetteville, great-grandchildren Cory, Shamon, Kayla and Nyla and one brother Jack Whitaker of Hollywood, FL. Mr. Whitaker was preceded in death by his wife Rachel Bryant Whitaker, sister Evelyn O’Neal, brother Scott and Felix Whitaker.
Visitation with the family will be Monday from 2:00 PM -3:30 PM at Higgins Funeral Home.
